Nerds of 01!

Well here is a way to show how “Hardcore” Ollie is. http://web.archive.org/web/20020802073606/www.battle.net/ladder/d2exp-ladderjunesept2001.shtml

Back in the old school days of 01 we played Diablo II all the time. When the expansion came out Ollie wanted to be the first level 99 hardcore. So what did he do he played 22hrs a day to get level 99. We were in the _Valgore Clan called EliteDruin it was pretty intense lol. I remember using a Battle.Net Chat Bot to govern our channel that was hardcore. ;-) But anyways Just a trip down memory lane for us. So we salute you Miss Valgore and Ollie for being the “Best in the World” at Diablo II ;-)

Some Tunes!

Well on my quest to grow my collection of music daily I have turned to downloading TV show theme songs. On my quest for theme songs I found an old show I loved called the Gummy Bears. I remember always getting a cape from a towel and trying to spin around to the Cartoon. Ahh being young and having an imagination. But I found a few episodes of the show on BitTorrent and I realized Kids shows back in my day kicked ass compared to this new Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh Crap you see on TV now. It used to be Baseball cards. Now it’s some cartoon Cards. WTH happened to America’s Kids. They watch stupid shows on TV. Fraggle Rock, Sesame Street, Gummy Bears, The Jetsons they were all the pimp shows when I was growing up. Oh well on with the theme song collecting.

I miss Sleep

Some reason I haven’t been sleeping to well. It’s this odd feeling that I am always forgetting something or some topic has been forgotten or just something is always on my mind. I think I am just missing that feeling of satisfaction. I decided to take the ferry home instead of driving around to save that 1.5hrs of time but costs $10. Sitting here with my feet up on my laptop I can’t really figure it out. Looking around I see people sleeping and I so envy them.

Another thing I don’t understand is honesty. Why do people have such a hard time being honest. I hate this metaphors of what people are really feeling. Just be open if you don’t want to talk to me then just say so. I would gain so much more respect for a person who is honest then just not telling me what is up. But I will never understand that about people. But then again sleep is something I miss and I just feel like I need a break. I am either at Work or School or Studying or Trying to sleep. But I can’t really seem to sleep so I sit up all night just tossing worried about stuff. I need to relax just get away and do nothing.

Sad News Day

Minnesota School Shooting This one is believed to be bigger then the one in Columbine High School. Again with a kid who was teased for wearing black. It’s really shitty that stuff like this has to happen. He will probably place Blame on Video Games or the Media. It could never be his parents or his legal guardians fault. People have to find another scapegoat.

I was in the lab before class reading DrudgeReport and saw this I didn’t believe it at first look but reading the article linked above it’s just a shame. 14 people gone. Anyways sucks seeing bad news. But what news do I ever see that is good news? Let me find some good news.

Apple Releases new Security Patch for OS X 10.3 Panther Release Notes
Bill Nye the Science Guy makes a return Bill Nye
Here is something to read How Computers are Making Kids Dumb

Well there is some news. I will have a more personal post when I get home from class tonight. What I really want to say doesn’t really fit this topic.

Google Library Up and Running!

Well this isn’t really anything personal but google has a new feature. Google has been going around to the big libraries. So far they have got Harvard’s Library in a digital format which is the second biggest library in the world the first is the library of congress but you can now search for a book and get the complete text in a digital format. For example to do this search you have to type in book or and you will get the complete text for the book. Tom Sawyer Pretty cool little feature when you are to lazy to go to the library. ;-)
Also when you select a book you can search within that book. Very Cool Feature. Another way Google is taking over the world. They own Blogger.com, Hello, Picasa, Search, gMail, Maps, Image Search. All very cool stuff. The list goes on. =)

Power Outage

Damn Power Outage Stopped me from viewing the Ring. I find it bizarre that someone commented on an article I posted in November about the Incredibles. Well Props to that person for reading the archives. I didn’t think anyone did unless I sent them a link to it.

Ring pt Duex

Well tomorrow night I will be going to go see the Ring Two at 10pm at none other then the Poulsbo Theater. I have not seen the Ring One so I picked up the movie and will be watching it tonight. I will edit this blog with a review afterwards but we shall see I have heard it’s scary as hell others are like that movie is lame.

Ring Two Trailer For those who would like to check out the trailer for the Ring 2. But anyways off to watch the Ring. Ugh Phone will be ringing now just to scare the crap out of me.

Update of Most Played Song

I kinda cheated this one to the top but who cares! It’s from Jack Johnson his new Album never really payed him much attention until I saw this music video which is pretty awesome it’s like Coldplay’s video where everything was going backwards but the mouth was in sync going normally. I found out his other #1 Downloaded song in the iTunes Music Store is called Flake which seems to be the biggest problem this day in age with girls. Is that most that I like to hang out with turn out to be flakes with no real explanation as to why they do what they do. No logic behind it but how often can logic be applied. Which is probably one problem I have is that I have to find logic in everything. Well this post took a drastic turn from being about a new favorite song to flakes. Maybe cause I am Sitting, Waiting and Wishing. =)

Last Update Was Sunday - IMAX Resolution

Well folks sorry for the lack of updates been a busy week 1st week of the new quarter so I have been driving a lot and just have not had the time to get on this blog. But I thought I would share with you an e-mail from my archive that I have never shared before. This inquiry came up last december when Me, and Kacey ventured out with some friends to go see the Polar Express movie in 3D IMAX at the Seattle Pacific Science Center. I had never been to the new Boeing IMAX theater since it was opened for the release of Fantasia 2000 in 2000. When I got home I was reading this article about how the Producer of Star Wars Rick McCallum was saying that Home Theater was destroying the movie business.

So on this note I thought well lets see there is really no joy in going to the movies you have 30 mins of commercials before the movie and then you have 20 mins of previews before the movie and you can watch all of those at home. So I thought how much better is a movie theater screen over an IMAX Screen so I sent of this e-mail to IMAX customer Service.

Hello my name is Tristan Pipo and I am just a general huge fan of movies and the technology behind the film. I was doing some research of the standard 35mm film that we see in movie theaters and did a little research and I heard that they have approx 4000 lines of resolution on a typical movie. I was wondering what the number of lines that would be approx. in a typical frame of IMAX film.

I can understand that is a lot of down conversion between the 4000 lines of a standard film to DVD which is 480p on a high end system. I was just wondering if you could pass that data along to me because I just like knowing those kind of details.

Thanks. Love the Imax technology.

A little over a week later I got my response.

Dear Tristan,

Thank you so much for your interest in IMAX. Hopefully the following will answer your question.

The smallest resolve power of neg film is about 6 microns. As a result, the limiting resolution on a 35mm negative frame is around 3700×2700 pixels. This means a maximum of 2000 lines of vertical resolution for an image with a 1.85 aspect ratio and even less for a 2.35:1 aspect ratio (1570 lines).

The resolution on a 35mm release print is much lower due to MTF generation loss in the film process. A recent paper from SMPTE journal reported that the real resolution that audience can discern in a high-quality 35mm cinema is about 1600 horizontal pixels, which translates to about 850 lines for 1:85 and less than 700 lines for 2.35. Most 35mm cinemas fair even worse than those numbers.

Similarly, an IMAX 15/70 frame has a limiting resolution of close to 12,000 horizontal pixels. For an aspect ratio of 1.36:1, there are about 8700 lines of vertical resolution on each 15/70 negative frame. Because the release print for a typical IMAX documentary is printed directly from the negative, the geneartion MTF loss will be reduced. It is estimated that audience can discern no less than 4500 lines of vertical resolution from a good IMAX release print. So as you can see there exists quite a difference between the image quality of an IMAX image vs that of a 35mm image.

Best Regards,

Brian Bonnick

There you have it fellow bloggers some reason I can’t ever seem to read enough or do enough with this technology they use for movies I am always asking questions like this my friends think I am a total dork because of this but hey I can always say I know more then them about this kinda stuff. What knowledge do they have? I know my friends are great at being friends but watching them not have jobs or not going to school is depressing.

My current goal is to see what it takes to get my CCNA been seeing where the training is offered because from what I view of the industry a MCSE isn’t really worth my time. But I could be wrong since from all the people with a CCNA that I have talked always seem to make more money then the MCSE and the CCNA is on track to get a CCNP and then the uber mega CCIE but we will see. Current Goal though is to take classes to get my CCNA and go get my CCNA.
