I discovered this wonderful little piece of audio when I bought the audiobook version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. They had this extra bit that defines what blogging is.

But I figured most people don’t have iTunes to go listen to the preview of this track so I took time out of my day to write it out in text format for everyone.

“Blogging: Blogging is the act of regularly updating your website with some hum-drum information about your life or a link to something you just read on the Internet in the mistaken belief that someone actually cares. It is the 21st century equivalent of hanging around railway stations writing pithy but erudite descriptions of the passing trains.

To take part in Blogging or to use the appropriate terminology to join the blogosphere there are a couple of things you need to do. Firstly you will need to increase the size of your ego. Without a swollen ego you simply cannot achieve the levels of solipsism required by a modern blog. This necessary step is often missed by new bloggers. Yet without it you won’t believe that anyone is remotely interested in what you have had for lunch today, how cute your cat mittens is, or whether or not you designed some tedious internet protocol.

In fact Blogging without an oversized ego can actually be dangerous. If you start using words like blogosphere there is a very major possibility that your own major intestines will leap straight up through your neck and throttle your brain in an attempt to preserve civilization.

Fortunately there are various forms of medication to increase the size of your ego many offering a money back guarantee that you’ll be at least twice as obnoxious in four weeks or less. Until you are sufficiently obnoxious you might feel the need to explain or at the very least or at least describe the things you link to.

Experienced bloggers know that they are so important that readers will blindly follow their links. After all a few seconds of one bloggers time is clearly more valuable then all the time spent of people discovering they really didn’t care.

The other thing you should do to become a successful blogger is change your website to use dotted lines and unreadable tiny fonts wherever possible.”

Well I have been blogging almost two years now and have revised the blog it’s been through two major graphic revisions. It used to have this orange theme since the CSS templates were very limited. Now we are on the second phase which is what you see here.

So I have been asked how do you decide what to write? Well I just write about my life and how I know it to be. I have switched the format from how I blog. I used to just login and write a message on the fly but recently I have been working on articles about my life which I tend to write in Apple iWork’s Program called Pages and then I send it out to my friend the english major and she gives it a once over for spell check. But posts like this I don’t even bother with.

I have been working on the “Worst Day of My LIfe” post which is really funny. Last edit it was 4 pages. I’m also working on an online article called “MySpace Dating” but that’s just a working title. Me and Preston have also been working on a project that will be featured here. We have a small little site together that we just use to host the few little videos we have made at www.nailsintheroad.com.

But my goal is to be myself as much as possible so if you were to meet me in person I would be the same person you have come to know reading my blog. Most of my loyal visitors are my close friends and the ones that I don’t really know I am sure if you asked any of the people that comment there are no suprises from who I am to what I blog about.

But anyways just thought I would post from home be a little more awake then my last blog post. I thought it was pretty cool that I have inspired a few of my friends at school to start a blog. I was thinking that’s great to know that my blog has inspired some other people to enjoy the blogging revolution.

Well people have been calling me saying that my blog is an interesting read. “You have a wit and a charm about you that people just hook onto and can’t stop”. So let’s look at the past couple days.

Weekend Update!!!!!!!
Well let’s see Fridays are pretty much the lamest night of the week. I work then drive 80 miles to class. I observe traffic and I begin to wonder as I always do why do people do what they do? Traffic goes from crazy to nothing in a period of a few feet. Just because people are to considered with what might happen instead to just go. But great thing about Friday’s is driving on I-5 and it’s Flash Friday so all you have to do is turn headlights on and girls drive by and flash you. It’s pretty simple concept and yet so great to end a boring day on a positive note. I have my Linux Server Admin class friday nights which is on the most a great learning experience.

Saturday -
I worked long day kinda crazy. Then I got off work and went to meet Jacob for some coffee to discuss how we were going to take care of some business cards and get some work done. After that I went to go meet up with the work out buddy Nick and we fixed his computer and then Lydia showed up and was like Hey. We were chatting and she was like Here! Have my # call me sometime. Her boyfriend just broke up with her. I was like hey that works. Then she invited me and Nick to a little party.

The other Nick called me and was like Hey I’m in town so I ran over to his dad’s place and we were eating some peanuts and Nick called me and said “Dude MAN ROCK ON! ME and Justin are going to kill ourselves rollerblading you DOWN!? Then were going to the Party” I was like “Nick Buddy I don’t have rollerblades and don’t really want to know how much a pair of size 14-16 rollerblades cost me. But Dude Hey give me a call when your down and I will follow you to the party” and Nick replied “SWEET”

So me and Nick went to go Meet Nick to get to the Party and when we get there it was the normal Nick female crowd and we were all chilling. Nick my workout friend was like “Ladies Tristan got ditched” so got some form of bizarre pity I had never seen before so they had me grabbing ass and face in cleavage and taking pictures of this. I must say I had a smile on my face. Then party was lame and we left.

Sunday-
Well what happened Sunday? Well woke up and then went to the gym by myself which I admit I didn’t get such a great workout but it was still good to have the experience that I could do it myself. I would like to thank the apple iPod for making such an effort possible. Then went to go get a protien bar and a VItamin Water and then went home took a shower burned a CD then went out to go fix a computer. So I also had a date planned with Ally to go see Charlie and the Choclate Factory and I must say great movie. Johnny Depp did awesome the Oompa Loompa were retarted in this one and MikeTV had a brain which was cool but eh. Songs were a bit lame but I really enjoyed this movie. It did a great job.

Then after that I went home and chilled I had a lot on mind so I thought I would go clear my head so I went down to the boardwalk and just was walking up and down and enjoying the sunset and just kinda drifted out into a trance and this girl was walking by and was like Hey I was like Hey and she was like you okay you have a lot on your mind and I just let out what I was thinking to a complete stranger. No Bias that way and it was good got her Yahoo name but I don’t know. Then Jason called me back and was like going to a BBQ out at my roomates parents house wanna go. So I did and then had some food and it was good.

Then went to go see Wedding Crashers. Which I wanted to be the funniest movie I have seen all year but it failed at that task. I would have to say the funniest movie of the year so far has been The Longest Yard. So that was pretty much the weekend in a nutshell.

Monday-
Went to work got off work went to the gym. Then me and Nick went to go get some Food and this has been discussed.

Tuesday-
I went over to help service the Russian KGB Mafia Man and work on his website and got a decent amount completed on getting it to work. I also learned more about the Adobe Suite in one day then I have learned since I have been playing with it since version 3.0. Then me and Jason went to hit the gym came home and just enjoyed the rest of my evening.

Wednesday-
Well this was a pretty simple day. I woke up drove out to Jacob’s work to fix a small computer issue mostly getting the server in seattle to be able to print to this local printer in the shop. Then got Jacob’s computer to talk to his Mac over the network with NFS and Samba and got everything working. Then got paid and went to deposit the funds. I like getting paid the day I finish the work seems like a great concept to me. =p

Then I called Jason and was like Hey my sister is going to the lake wanna go. He said only if they have a Dock. So I stopped at the grocery store purchased a vitamin water and some Diet Pepsi and was on my way to go home and change clothes. Grab the swimsuit and went on my way to Pick up Jason.

I was thinking you know what I am not wearing shoes down to the lake and I don’t have a pair of sandals. So I thought we should stop by payless to get me a pair. I went in and they only had them in size 13. And it was $19.99 for that pair I was like screw that lets try that expensive shoe store. So I walked over to Casual shoes or whatever it’s called and I found a pair of size 14 Adidas Sandals and they were only $24.99 I was like sweet marked down for $35.99 so I bought those and went to the lake.

Swam for about 2hrs which was good got a bit sunburned and got a great workout. I was really happy and in lots of pain. Best Cardio ever I think I am going to try and push myself like that at least once a week.

But all and all it was a great weekend short for some drama that I created in my own mind. But we got that issue resolved. Perhaps another blog for that. Anyways I finished this blog in class.

Well I decided to save the weekend’s events until I resolve one issue. Which we will leave at that. But anyways yesterday.

Had a short work day they gave me a raise and a different job which I must say is so much easier. Don’t have to deal with any of the annoying aspects of the last job mainly because of customers. But anyways about work everybody keeps coming up to me like Tristan I read your blog when you going to update again. Which is totally cool more people that read this the better. Hits are growing at an increasing rate which is awesome. Never thought a guy like me would have a life so interesting that everyone wants to read what I am doing or what I have done.

But Joey came up to me he was like Man I never knew you were so into movies. Barbara keeps asking me about this blog. She’s a pretty cool young lady as far as they go. She always says I am a flirt or calls me Robot Man. Being called a Flirty Robot what should I think of that. Oh well cool with me.

But anyways worked a short day then came home and chilled. Checked the e-mail but that’s for later. Then I called Nick and was like dude lets hit the gym so we went to the gym. I wasn’t really feeling it cause I had a lot on my mind. But Nick’s cool and we just got to it. I biked for 25 minutes then jogged for 1/2 mile and then we went and did back and some chest and then abs but mainly back. Then me and him went to go grab some grub which was good. I always love a little Pan Fried Chow Mein and some Egg Rolls. I had never been to the Golden Lion pretty decent. Nice looking Hostess we were talking to her then found out she had a boyfriend so it was like interest dropped at an ever increasing rate.

Talked some business about Real Estate since I knew some people that were looking for a piece of property or a house and going to get that in the motion. You can make some decent cash for finders fee’s. It’s funny I make more money at my side jobs now then I do at the main job. I just got some business cards printed up thanks to the almighty Jacob.

I have notifed I don’t really hang so much with Ollie anymore I spend more time hanging out with Jason and Nick. But Jason goes back to school in August and time to chill with him will be reduced.

Wanted to let everyone know to keep a weekend in September open because George Ollie will be having his amazing pajama party and if it even is a 1/10th as good as the last one it will bring down the house.

Kinda weird I logged in thinking this would be a small post cause I didn’t really have much I thought I could talk about at this venture and look what we ended up with.

Today me and a wonderful young lady went to the movies but more about that later. On the weekend update but when I was walking into the theater I saw a huge cardboard ad for this movie called ElizabethTown. I didn’t give it a second look but walked out and saw it again and was thinking WTF why does this keep jumping out at me.

So I came home and watched the trailer. Elizabeth Town Movie Trailer (Large)

It is a Cameron Crowe film he has done other films some of my favorites of his were Say Anything, Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky. This guy has this thing for romance films that he does very well. He just seems to know what he is doing and how I would want a relationship to be you know. I really liked Say Anything cause it was filmed in Seattle and it was just one of those great films. I got turned onto that film in Film Study it was the first movie we watched and since then I just have enjoyed that film along with many of his others.

I’m thinking I might check this movie out perhaps. But anyways just made a quick pit stop at home thought I would talk about this and then head out again. But weekend update of what happened is coming after I get done with the weekend ;-).

Well I am going to save the weekend update till it’s done but today I was thinking what is something I normally do?

And for some reason I give a lot of thumbs up and like challenging people to thumb wars. And I was thinking I can’t be the only one who has this odd desire on occasion. So I did some research.

I love satellite radio lol funny crap like this on the display

Well if you don’t already know all the iTunes LInks around the page are technically ads. And if you click on one I get 5% of whatever you buy from the iTunes Music store in a 24hr period. I have been running this service for a while now. I got a check in the mail today. For a grand total of $2.35!

I am not sure if I should frame it or what. This will be the first time I have had made money from a website =). That covers about 1/3 of the cost to host this stie for a month.

I just thought this was to funny. I wonder how much of that was me clicking on the links to enable my account for Profit Sharing. So far I have had 11,601 Impressions from the iTunes Links on my site 623 People have Clicked Them. Out of those 623 clicks 13 people have ordered something. Ordering 27 items I helped iTunes sell $43.89 worth and I got a commission of $2.35 after taxes that math doesn’t seem like it’s working out correctly. But that’s what I gathered from the report I ran.

Well anyways just thought I would share that info and let everyone have a laugh.
