Apple WWDC 2005

Well I just watched the 1hr 2 min KeyNote from the WWDC 2005 in Cali. I was a bit suprised to read some rumors in WSJ, /., C|Net, Wired that Apple would be making the switch from PowerPC Processors which I use now (G4 and G5) to Intel Processors. But then I viewed this as kinda of a good thing with the demo's of how everything was working.

iTunes 4.9 will have podcasting support right to my iPod which is awesome! I saw they had Sirius up there for setting up Podcasting so Sirius will be on my iPod? One can only hope.

Anyway back to the big switch from PowerPC to Intel. Well I was like well shit me on a PowerPC will have to upgrade everything to take advantage of this or will I be left in the dark. Well it's a simple switch xCode 2.1 will have a button what system do you want to develop for. You can check PowerPC and Intel and create what is called a universal binary which will work with both systems. Which is beyond f'n cool.

From the demo everything worked all the software. That I use on a regular basis my questions have to deal with Final Cut Studio, DVD Studio Pro how well will they work. I am finding that Apple is doing the smart thing everytime they are taking what people say about them and finding a way to improve.

Apple has been doing a lot like I have been doing. They find something that they could better and find a way to get that on the right path. Some reason I feel it would be one of those companies I would be right at home at.

Now poeple will look at microsoft and perhaps think they do that also. But Microsoft always tends to be a follower. They see what is being done and try to clone it and slap their corporate feces all over it and say they did it first or they did it better. MAC OS 9 and it's other brothers 8,7 etc I admit were not that great in my eyes. OS X is just amazing I used to think XP was the best Microsoft Product ever but kinda was just a facelift to Windows 95,NT,98,ME,2000, with new stuff like NTFS 5 and all kinds of other crap.

I can sit at OS X Tiger which I am running 10.4.1 and get work done and at a better pace because any piece of information is always a few mouse clicks away. If I need a calculator I press F12 and boom Dashboard comes up and there is my calculator. Unless I have a shortcut somewhere on Windows I have to click on Start mouse over to Accessories then Calculator.

Only reason that I like Windows is for Games, and Ethereal that's pretty much all I need and use Windows for anymore. But all this news at the WWDC is just awesome.

Apple announced that Leopard the next Mac OS X. Mac OS X 5 would be coming out at the end of 06 early 07 about the same time longhorn was coming out. I am interested to see where this will go as much as panther impressed me. And then when I saw Tiger how amazed I was by that. I am sure Leopard will do the same. =)

Amyway this is enough of this post. Smile Today.
