Twas the Night Before.. Copyright?
I have been having this idea inspired by something I am working on. I was thinking that a good idea for the Christmas Post would be to read the famous poem. "Twas the Night Before Christmas" but then I got to thinking who owns this poem. So I did some research on it.
It was first published in Troy, New York in a paper called the Sentinel by Anonymous on December 23, 1823 and later in the 1840's two authors claimed ownership of this piece. Clement Clarke Moore and Henry Livingston. Moore claimed it first but there are people on both sides of this debate.
So anyways does a piece of work this old hold any copyrights that I would have to seek permission to read? I understand all the music copyrights and fair use. But not really sure how this applies to works of literature.
But anyways any help is appreciated. Feedback on this idea would be better.

OK it freaks me out that you asked this, because my brilliant idea was to call in and read it!
Damn you, boy. But it's OK, I have a back-up plan.
If you could use the a tag dave that would have helped. I am a bit to lazy to copy and paste ;-).
Jenniper! Hey if you want to do it that is totally cool. =)
