The Movie, Driving, Plastic
Well I haven't been to a movie in a long while. Last movie I saw was Munich in 2005. Seems so long ago. But tonight Jon and me went to see the Producers. The movie adaptation of the Broadway play. Not having seen the Broadway play when I was in NYC in October of 2003 I got to see Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway. But anyways the movie. Well it's an adaptation of a Mel Brooks film and I happen to love Mel Brooks. I am still waiting for his 1993 movie Robin Hood Men in Tights on DVD in America. It had a short DVD release in Australia it is pirated on eBay for sale. But I am anal about DVD quality and that option wouldn't work for me. I have a Widescreen version from BitTorrent. But anyways. The movie it has its niche of whom it's for and it wasn't really for me. It had lots of funny parts some I was like should I laugh at this it didn't have that little bit where it's like this is funny please laugh. Which is present in most comedies that I have gotten used to so on that level it was taking a step forward. Most movies today are not musical comedies. Since most people get bored with the rather long dance numbers which this movie had a large amount of.
Now the dance numbers had females and lots of them wearing dresses made out of pearls or Uma Thurman wearing a dress that had my focus. But what it showed a lot of was leg. I am a fan of the legs always catch my eye. But anyways. The movie worked on that level. It had a lot of the Gay jokes and humor in the movie that the woman in the audience enjoyed but the guys were like "eh okay ha ha funny" It didn't have the Mel Brooks charm I was looking for in this movie and no running gags like a mole or a hump. But it was racy "Springtime for Hitler" but Mel Brooks for you.
All and all the story was great and at times moved along slowly. The director Susan Stroman has never directed a movie doing a quick search she was a choreographer for most of her past. She had a great cast but she seemed to take over and just throw in dancing wherever possible and that was cool but just not doing it for me a movie buff. I need to rewatch the 1968 version it's been years.
But this was the funny highlight of the evening. We tried a new movie theater in the area I like to call Yuppie-ville (aka Bainbridge Island) this is an Island Due west of Seattle and you are lucky if you can find a house for under $600k on this rock. They are a bunch of self-centered idiots that don't like to leave the protection of the island. If they do they have to be waited on hand and foot. All these teenagers with rich parents nothing entertains them anymore so they just take their parents money and go smoke pot and do various other kinds of "social drugs" because their parents don't give them the attention they need so they seek it elsewhere.
But here is the kicker Jon and I were standing outside the theater and I noticed the Handicapped parking spot signs. I went up and shook it and it was a PVC pipe attached to a spring. So these old ladies who shouldn't be driving anyways if they are stupid enough and hit the sign it just bends right over. So not to damage the car. WTF I would think that a giant cement pillar in the ground to destroy the car to show these idiots they shouldn't be behind a wheel would be a better idea then encouraging to continue to drive. If a drunk driver hit these things he/she would drive right over it and destroy the building rather then hitting a block and just destroying the car and themselves. If that drunk driver was to hit a cement pillar the car would be damaged and he/she would go to jail. If they were to die the world would be a better place on less idiot to breed. But here we go just another way to sugarcoat everything so reality doesn't become an intrusion so the idiots can continue to live and reproduce and waste resources.
I vote that signs that can bend are a bad idea. If you can't avoid a sign you shouldn't be driving end of story.
(P.S. This is for Dave. Since you can't read the summary of the Producers not that you could afford to go. It's worth a rental at best. Or in a 2nd Run theater for dirt-cheap. I would like $5 of my $8 back.)
(P.S.S. Software downloaded at 12:50am PST 71.23% with ???-??-?? time left to go. I need to edit these Podcasts. Seed the file if you have it ;-) )
