Tristan if you want to live your life according to Dilbert - well I thought that this is the life you are trying not to live. And if this life is not for you then this comic deal doesnot apply to you anymore. Right? Unless you like to be that.
Time to get out the lets clarify pen.
This comic is making reference to that people have asked me to setup wireless networks many many times. This also strike a chord with the other fellow computer people that read my blog because I am sure they have been in the same boat. I don't live my life like dilbert. Thought I do find the humor of his to somewhat replicate what I find funny in many ways.
Where being a computer savvy person people ask you questions about such matters frequently. I get asked 20+ times a day on average. But if you ask for something in return it seems out of the question. Like geeks are just so deprived of human connections that anything we get form someone else is a favor.
But dilbert getting a bit of revenge and playing with people is taken by these cartoon people as out of the ordinary. Which seems to be the same in this reality.
I had a girl call me asking me to do a complicated web site. I replied "I will do it if I could see you naked." To which her response was No and the result I expected taken one back for the geek not to be walked over again.
The cartoon has the desired effect that I wanted of laughter for myself and a few other people that have had to setup wireless networks. Nothing is free or easy in this world no matter how much you want i t to be.
Peace Out
I used to like Dilbert. Until I realized just how much he reminds me of my ex.
