Most people you ask will tell you that I love movies. I watch every movie and I am an extremly tough critic of movies. I look back at 2005 and find disappointment in every film that I saw. Some films I wanted to see never came around like House of D. Lots of great Indie films I would have love to have gone to see.
My top picks for movies of 2005 are as follows.
1. Munich
2. Sin City
3. Walk the Line
4. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
But 2005 was a year of Remakes, Sequals and Movies from Books. I guess it is better then 2003 that offered us The Real Cancun and From Justin to Kelly. People seem to not understand why I thought Narnia was just a 130min Piece of garbage. That new Harry Potter was a yawn. King Kong was a good film the ape captured my heart but it still seemed like 3hrs and 7 mins of Peter Jackson showing what WETA Digital could do. He should have remade the hobbit.
I have yet to see a comedy I would consider a great film. I have seen many great comedies that make great comedies. But a joke is only funny once or twice. Movies have taken this turn to crap. Though I continue to go slap down my $6.50 or $8.50-$9.00 to go see what is playing in the theater with some shred of hope I will be wrong. I will watch any movie at least once. But I find myself searching for Independant films to see what people who have real passion for telling a story over spending money have to say.
I was browsing
del.icio.us looking for quicktime movies and I came across a movie trailer for the Indie film 5-25-77 and for those non movie people that was the date Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released to the world. One of my favorite films of all time though I do think Empire was better. IV was a beginning V (Empire) was the middle of the story which was directed by someone other then George and it was great on so many levels. Anyways I am getting off track. This little film just caught my eye of being the type of film I would really enjoy creating or watching.
There is one line I love
Girl: "Oh Right! Like I would waste me time on some dorky Sci-Fi Movie?"
Boy: "So you don't have your little Star Trek Parties anymore?"
Girl: "Shutup!"
It seems I have a debate like that every couple days.
Girl/Friend/Family Member: "What I can't belive you waited in line 9hrs for Star Wars!"
Me: "Didn't you go wait in line for Harry Potter at Midnight?"
Girl/Friend/Family Member: "Shutup!" or "It's totally differnt"
Everyone is a geek about something. I just dip my hand in about 236,355 things to be geeky about at any given time. So this movie 5-25-77 I feel like this movie is totally me. Couple years ago when I was just down I felt really connected with the character Miles in Sideways.
