1998 Yearbook Picture Kingston Junior High

Here is my picture from 9th Grade in 1998 Last year of Junior High. Though I might want to post this save some time for those future Yearbook Slides in Movie Theaters or something. Anyway big blog day today.

People

I like to think that people are my passion. But to be totally honest most people drive me insane. But most of it is because they don't think before they act. But I have been under this personal challenge and been trying to get out and talk to 3 total strangers a week and just figure out what drives them. I think everyone has a voice and everyone wants to use it. They are just not sure how or seem to think that nobody will give them 10 minutes of their time to actually listen to someone.

We are always in a hurry to get there or go do this or entertain ourselves in some way. Here is an example I was walking into a Quizno's Sandwich Place a week ago and there was this girl making sandwiches it was my turn in and line and she asked "What can I get for you?" Nothing new here but you just had to look at this young woman's face and you could tell something was bothering her. So being curious and hoping to brighten her day a bit I responded with "Before we get to what I want how are you doing today?" I got back "Thanks for asking my day has been rather stressful just mean customers all day" which got me to thinking are we that busy in life we can't have an extra 2-3 mins to wait for a sandwich? This girl was having a shitty day but nobody seemed to care my 5 minutes of interaction led to her being in a better mood and I got 10% of my sandwich for helping her have a better day.

But people always hold things back in total fear of being hated for what they want to say. Or dress things up with metaphors to try to say what they want but confuse the person and messages become unclear and then problems occur. If something bothers you and it's how you feel say it. If something bothers me I come on here to talk about it or I podcast or I find someone who is willing to listen.

But I think everyone should make some time to listen to someone and say what's on their mind. Honesty in general is the best policy because a lie will always come around to bite you in the ass later. I guess I just want to say. If your out today make someone smile it doesn't take much. A laugh is always good.

Happy Monday Everyone. Lets hope this week brings something new. Other then Episode 2 Show #5 to your Hard Drives, iPods, CD's, Ears. Which should be out by tomorrow afternoon. =)

=)

Developing xCode

I've been doing a lot of research on Podcasting and OS X and there are some things we are lacking on the Mac OS X platform. I have never really messed with C++ Programming and to develop this software application that would benefit a lot of podcasters and just people who really dig this.

I could use iTunes or MegaSeg it can do it but it's not really simple and people love simple things. It's kinda been stressing my brainpower having to learn xCode, C++ and using Frameworks mostly Core Audio. Then there is the added problem of learning how to build a Universal Binary for the PPC and Intel platforms on OS X. So we will see where this goes and how it goes.

But my basic question is can anyone recommend a good book for learning xCode and C++ with Carbon and using Frameworks like CoreAudio.

The Movie, Driving, Plastic

Well I haven't been to a movie in a long while. Last movie I saw was Munich in 2005. Seems so long ago. But tonight Jon and me went to see the Producers. The movie adaptation of the Broadway play. Not having seen the Broadway play when I was in NYC in October of 2003 I got to see Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors on Broadway. But anyways the movie. Well it's an adaptation of a Mel Brooks film and I happen to love Mel Brooks. I am still waiting for his 1993 movie Robin Hood Men in Tights on DVD in America. It had a short DVD release in Australia it is pirated on eBay for sale. But I am anal about DVD quality and that option wouldn't work for me. I have a Widescreen version from BitTorrent. But anyways. The movie it has its niche of whom it's for and it wasn't really for me. It had lots of funny parts some I was like should I laugh at this it didn't have that little bit where it's like this is funny please laugh. Which is present in most comedies that I have gotten used to so on that level it was taking a step forward. Most movies today are not musical comedies. Since most people get bored with the rather long dance numbers which this movie had a large amount of.

Now the dance numbers had females and lots of them wearing dresses made out of pearls or Uma Thurman wearing a dress that had my focus. But what it showed a lot of was leg. I am a fan of the legs always catch my eye. But anyways. The movie worked on that level. It had a lot of the Gay jokes and humor in the movie that the woman in the audience enjoyed but the guys were like "eh okay ha ha funny" It didn't have the Mel Brooks charm I was looking for in this movie and no running gags like a mole or a hump. But it was racy "Springtime for Hitler" but Mel Brooks for you.

All and all the story was great and at times moved along slowly. The director Susan Stroman has never directed a movie doing a quick search she was a choreographer for most of her past. She had a great cast but she seemed to take over and just throw in dancing wherever possible and that was cool but just not doing it for me a movie buff. I need to rewatch the 1968 version it's been years.

But this was the funny highlight of the evening. We tried a new movie theater in the area I like to call Yuppie-ville (aka Bainbridge Island) this is an Island Due west of Seattle and you are lucky if you can find a house for under $600k on this rock. They are a bunch of self-centered idiots that don't like to leave the protection of the island. If they do they have to be waited on hand and foot. All these teenagers with rich parents nothing entertains them anymore so they just take their parents money and go smoke pot and do various other kinds of "social drugs" because their parents don't give them the attention they need so they seek it elsewhere.

But here is the kicker Jon and I were standing outside the theater and I noticed the Handicapped parking spot signs. I went up and shook it and it was a PVC pipe attached to a spring. So these old ladies who shouldn't be driving anyways if they are stupid enough and hit the sign it just bends right over. So not to damage the car. WTF I would think that a giant cement pillar in the ground to destroy the car to show these idiots they shouldn't be behind a wheel would be a better idea then encouraging to continue to drive. If a drunk driver hit these things he/she would drive right over it and destroy the building rather then hitting a block and just destroying the car and themselves. If that drunk driver was to hit a cement pillar the car would be damaged and he/she would go to jail. If they were to die the world would be a better place on less idiot to breed. But here we go just another way to sugarcoat everything so reality doesn't become an intrusion so the idiots can continue to live and reproduce and waste resources.

I vote that signs that can bend are a bad idea. If you can't avoid a sign you shouldn't be driving end of story.

(P.S. This is for Dave. Since you can't read the summary of the Producers not that you could afford to go. It's worth a rental at best. Or in a 2nd Run theater for dirt-cheap. I would like $5 of my $8 back.)

(P.S.S. Software downloaded at 12:50am PST 71.23% with ???-??-?? time left to go. I need to edit these Podcasts. Seed the file if you have it ;-) )

Post #584 - Sex and Podcasting

Sex before stressful events keeps you calm
GOT some public speaking to do? Here's a tip to keep stress at bay: have sex beforehand. But make sure it's penetrative sex - the magic vanishes if you pursue other forms of sexual gratification.

Now I got this from Digg and It's just a hair after midnight and was reading this and listening to a podcast I have in the works and was having a bit of a chuckle. This article later goes on to say that the effects are not just short term but last up to a week. Now this is good news. As I laugh to myself writing this blog post. Since I do a lot of public speaking now. Have to love Science and all it's discoveries.

Straight From Brain To Pixel Blogging

I have been at this blogging thing for a great deal of time and still enjoy it. People who start a blog and then never really update it or go anywhere with the blogging revolution in the blogosphere are crazy. But they are the ones that change their SN a few times a year. But anyways time for some updates.

Last weekend I went to Preston's Girlfriends Birthday Party up in Belltown. I was the first one to arrive and had a good time just hanging out had a few beers and people kept arriving always a nice little social event. I had to work the next day so I wasn't drinking. I had a beer a nice Henry W Private Reserve. It's pretty decent for a light Beer. Pretty cheap also I think a 6 pack of bottles runs between $5-6. I prefer the darker kind of beer a Nice Amber or something Dark never been a fan of the Bud or Millers or Coors of the world. But near the end of the party this young woman and her fiancé showed up and they had a daughter this girl named Raven.

Now I have always had a little bit of a knack for young children I would guess her in the 5-6 range. Some reason every kid is always all about me. Every animal with owners are always like "My Dog (Dog Name like Biscuits) hates Men or Hates Everyone" But those animals also develop an almost instant connection with me and always want to be around. It was no different this time. This little girl was all about just hanging out with me I was sitting on the couch she crawled up next to me shared her blanket and we were doing magic tricks. It happens all the time. I am sure the KGB Mafia Man will hop on here and say the same.

But Birthday Party was good Preston made some good Cake. I created lots of laughs and showed the world Pimp My NutCracker.

Sunday we recorded the Real Episode 2. It comes in at 1hr 6mins and 22seconds before I add the intro or anything. But until I get the updated software I need to edit the damn thing it sits here waiting to be completed. At time of posting it's 57.11% completed. I also have the EliteStranger Interview to edit which will require this update as well. So I have two podcasts sitting in the pipeline waiting to be aggragated to the world.

On a different note I have people wanting to hear the screwed up Episode 2 as a whole. Well perhaps we can arrange something. Anyways happy Feeding and Reading.

12hrs until January 25th 2006 is over. How you going to make the rest of today worth it?

Podcasting

Every time I do a Podcast it's like a new test of my brain and patience.

The 500th Blog Post Celebration was my first attempt ever at editing audio really. I used to do simple things like making Tapes from CD's and mixing those together. As primitive as it might have been it was a lot of fun.

My 2nd show was the Carcast, which was seeing how it a recording would turn out doing it quickly with no equipment in my car. I was under high stress trying to get this done. Though it was a great attempt at mobile recording.

My 3rd Podcast was the Christmas Test I don't really count that. But the real Christmas show was another attempt at trying to improve on what I created with the 500th post. Though not as many call ins as I had hoped for so I had to get a couple people in twice and go steal some promo's from the promo Podcast over at podshow it worked on a different level and improved upon some things like having a constant volume for the music behind the phone calls and getting all the phone calls at the proper volume.

My 4th show where KGB Mafia Man and me sat down and had a discussion about Women was a big step forward in trying to record from two sources at the same time. Though I should have gone about it in a different way. I used my Mic and my other USB mic and plugged them into my laptop and fed both of the audio feeds into Soundflower (2ch) using to running applications of LineIN and fed the Soundflower 2ch Mix into Garageband and recorded that and added on top of it. Had I been thinking about it for better control over both feeds I would have gone with Recording each as a separate feed using Audio Hijack Pro and then mixing them together later in Garageband.

My 5th Podcast was Episode 1.75 where I took what I had done in Show #4 and added in the extra element of recording someone over the internet but we had some problems locally and with Skype and ran into some volume issues with Skype and Jason was stupid and kept moving the mic around so we get all this "wind noise". The show could have been really great and I keep thinking about releasing a exclusive CD and have that on there as a bonus.

My 6th Podcast will be building on what we learned before and we are going to be trying a 3 person show again but the other 2 people will be remote out there on the internet and they will be recording their own feed and sending it to me as a file later and I will mix them all together. Hopefully that will work in the ways when me and Mike tested this theory before I started doing this.

Every Podcast I try to attempt something new with the technology that has been presented in front of me. I will get this all worked out soon enough. This is all an experiment. This whole idea of podcasting is just so freaking cool. I really enjoy doing it. Being able to create content that people want to hear and get feedback and try to just get better and better. I thank everyone for the feedback and sticking with me through all these tests and ideas and love hearing from everyone!

Podcasting recording will be going down over the next few days with the Real Episode II, Elite Stranger Interview (Talk about my editing nightmare ;-)), It's just all so damn cool.

Have a good Weekend.

Darin and Tristan Team Up Again

2004 we celebrated the release of Sublemon. The very end of 2005 we finished Phat Loot and if you would like a copy of our new album shoot me an e-mail.

That is all.

Going Mobile!

Now I have a cell phone, laptop, internet access on my cell phone. I am still connected to the world when I have no wires. But I want to do mobile podcasting. I am currently in the market for much Podcasting equipment. I would love a Digital Voice Recorder that I could sync over USB that is great quality to just go around places and get that public viewpoint on so many random things that boggle my mind everyday. Like for this topic on Woman I would love to go around to 100's of random woman and just ask what they think about men. Might be fun to dodge a few slaps and purse swings or punches even. Make for some great podcasting.

So does anyone have any recommendations on anything? A lot of the other podcasters I listen to have iRivers for mobile recording. Olympus makes a few Voice Recorders but you can't really test them out.

I should probably get a T-Shirt Made. "Tristan Pipo.com Podcast - " Time to go think.

A Bit Late in The Mail. But Still Cool

CES Badge Finally Came in The Mail. A Bit Late considering CES is now over since a week ago. But still cool to see my name on something like this. More like I got one of these and you didn't. But then again how many of you really care? ;-) On a Side note I think the CES 2005 Badges were a lot cooler they were Green with a 3D CES logo with my name on it. The 2004 and 2003 CES Badges were just blah. I have only been to CES 2003 I should probably try and make an effort to go in 2007 I get invited to go every year.

I got asked today if Tristan Pipo was my real name. I don't think I would have this kind of ID and TristanPipo.com for my site name if it wasn't. But I guess it shows idiots are everywhere. I wonder what they would say if I told them it wasn't my real name. Then I could say something well if you think I am lying then why did you ask?

Where the Hell Have you Been?

"Tristan! Hey I love the blog what happened man? I came here on Monday and you haven't updated with a new podcast like you said. You haven't even written why you haven't updated. What gives. Love You Lots -K "

Well I had to post this little comment. Your right you deserve an update. Well Episode II that was recorded will not be heard in the form that we recorded so I have been busy with post production on Episode 1.75 which is basically "The Best Of" what we recorded before we do Take 2 on Episode II.

Tonight I am going to interview EliteStranger. So if you have any questions shoot an e-mail to Tristan.Pipo@gmail.com and your questions will be asked for the band.

So Episode 1.75 will be up on Wednesday (Tomorrow) and the Elite Stranger Interview will be up in a few days. So Episode II will be a redo because of lacking sound quality and 1 lacking cohost. So the next show will be Tristan (Me ;-)), Mike, and Darin!

So sorry for the delay we ran into an issue I wasn't prepared for it was a good test of recording someone over the internet and a local. I should write an update on life.

Well that will be another thing on my project list.

Technical Difficulties

Okay I keep having this problem in garageband of only being able to record 999 measures. Which is always 32mins and 10 seconds. It will record past that marker but if I want to edit any of the audio well that is a problem.

So we got the first half an hour done with some hilarity but we had a mic problem and a time problem which caused the second half of the show to be just not great. For being easy on the ears. So we are doing Take 2 of Part 2 today. Which will cause me a bit more of a headache of having to render 2 garageband files and mix them together.

According to what I have read on apple.com/support/ Garageband 3 supports up to 1999 tracks. Giving me a little over double the time to work with. Which would solve the problem and teaching Jason how to use a Mic. Speaking of Jason we added a 3rd Co-Host my friend Jason. I would link to his blog but it's a super secret blog.

Anyways back to solving the problem.

Post #573 - Podcast Update, Movie Update

Podcast Update:
Well we are on for recording Episode II Where Two Guys Sit down and Talk about Women. This show will be having the explict tag. So if you are under the age of whatever your parents decide is bad for you then. Well download it anyway and rebel against the force that oppresses your podcast listening! Stand up and Say "I'm a human being damnit! I want to hear what Tristan and Mike + (Extra Maybe) Have to Say. So shove it Ma!"

We will be recording at 9pm. Till we are done. So expect it on Sunday or Monday. That is it for the Podcasting News.

Movie Update:

Tristan and Isolde is not playing anywhere in my local area that is within reasonable driving distance at the moment. The reviews are decent. It needs my review. My name is on the film. I need to get a Seal of Approval graphic. I will get the minions to work on that. So I may not be seeing this movie anytime soon. Time to be the jerk and write the movie theaters.

Blogging Ring News:

I was reading The Junniper Blog Of The Ages and she boasted about being the greatest SceneIt Player of All Time.

I wrote her an e-mail here is a little clip.

"Loved your more recent post for Wed Jan 11th 2005. I challenge you to a SceneIT Tournament. We could compete for this trophy I found at a garage sale for 25¢ that says "Best Honorable Effort" Anyways."

A few hours later I got this reply.

"I am the Scene It champion. Be careful what you're getting into. I played with 3 friends once, and kicked all their butts. They were like half-way around the board when I won. Then I said, "let's keep playing. You stay where you are, and I'll start again from the beginning." And I won AGAIN. So there. I'm not sure if I should be proud of that, though, because it means I watch too many movies. :)"

A champion eh. Well it might be time to dethrone the SceneIt Queen. If it will be the Harry Potter Edition I will just admit defeat now. But until the day of Movie Trivia Battle it will remain up in the air.

The Island!

Thought I was going to be talking about the movie? Nah there is a little Island in the South Atlantic known as Tristan Da Cunha. I got inspired to visit this island when I got a National Geographic and it had an article about the island. It has 700 people and about 10 seperate families. Inbreeding is a bit of a problem. I signed up to join the Yahoo Group.

I was approved today to join the group and get all the down low on my island.

I saw this article in the newspaper the Tristan Times. Friday the 13th Rats having an unlucky Day this reminds me of that Episode of the Simpsons where they have "Whacking Day" to go kill snakes. I guess Rats won't be so bad. So now I can chat with the people from my Island. I have my movie coming out on Friday and TristanTimes.com is the newspaper for my island. Now I just have to figure out how to get to my island for a little vacation.

My people are called Tristanians. My people need to be making more money though. Average wages on Tristan da Cunha are at £1.50 per hour. It's just a goal of mine to someday be on Tristan while being Tristan eating a meal I picked up from the Tristan Cafe while watching Tristan and Isolde. Till then I will podcast and search for my own Isolde. Anyways off to go get my learn on.

Apple Makes some Updates!

Okay Today I was just kinda in huge anticipation at work today. Knowing a MacWorld Keynote was happening trying to access RSS feeds of ThinkSecret and Slashdot Were just not working to my advantage. So I get home flip open my laptop and head over to Apple.com/Quicktime to watch the keynote and I was getting some errors with the audio. So probably due to latency. But anyways I saw on Thinksecret that they had an update to Garageband which is how I record and edit my podcasts.

They took everything I wanted in that application and just made it so podcast friendly. With built in iChat interviews will make my cohosts on the Mac so much easier then what I had planned to do for Skype. It does the Enhanced Podcasts which are awesome which is making me debate if I should switch to just the AAC format with chapters or stay with plain and simple MP3's. Because most people seem to just download the files as I post them and don't acutally subscribe to the Podcast Feed. But I will be offering a tutorial on that in the near near future.

But this new Garageband3 in the iLife suite is everything I have ever wanted in an audio application.

Garageband 3 Part of iLife 06

With the education Discount it is $59 so you save $20 off retail. Sucks the Apple Stores don't give you the education Discount on Software.

Apple also announced the new laptop and iMac's The laptop is called the MacBook Pro running on the Dual Core Intel at 1.67Ghz Dual Core ($1,799) or 1.83Ghz Dual Core ($2,299) with the Student Discount. Now this Mac Techie from Seattle is just salavating at that 1.83Ghz Dual Core Powerbook. Built in iSight Camera. (Hard to Imagine me video chatting.) I can just feel my credit card burning a hole in my pocket right now. (Lets see cell phone contract ends in March that is $70 a month I will be saving. I have been enjoying VOIP far more over cell phone. The Apple Student Loan is $54 a month.) Birthday is in May! Maybe I will get lucky.

It's somewhat rare I get this excited about anything. But something about those Steve Jobs keynotes just pump me up. That guy just is a great speaker and I want all his products.

But anyways a must is iLife 06. So if you would like to contribute anything. You will see a nice button at the top for that. But that was planning to be explained in greater detail later but this is just to cool. But anyways details on the "Make a Donation" will be explained soon enough.

You ever get a new laptop or something electronic and open it up and it has that smell. That just gets me all excited it's like Porn. It's so great in so many ways and can satisfy you a little. But just doesn't get you all the way there. But something about that smell and the feel of that new power is just amazing.

P.S. Due to a schedule conflict that came up. The Elite Stranger Podcast Interview recording will be delayed a week. So the next Podcast will be me and my new CoHost taking up the Topic Again of Women. Two 20 something guys trying to wrap our mind around something that is probably impossible. What will we uncover? Who knows. Back to drooling over Apple Porn.

Relic e-Mail

I have had hotmail for a long while. I have had two hotmail accounts the old craze_15@hotmail.com which is no longer around and the current tristanpipo@hotmail.com which is only used for MySpace I laugh when people send real e-mail to that address. But I found this e-mail from Feb 2nd 1999. I was in Biology 1st Period with Mrs. Webster who was famous for taking Bill Gates to Prom in High School. But I sat behind this girl named Alaina that I had a major crush on. I found this e-mail that she replied to. I was a Sophmore in High School I knew nothing about Women then and still know very little now. lol

I couldn't find what I had written I am curious about the whole puddle sleeping thing. This e-mail is almost 7 years old. Kinda crazy that I still have it. But thought everyone would enjoy a nice trip down Tristan memory lane.

Movies

Most people you ask will tell you that I love movies. I watch every movie and I am an extremly tough critic of movies. I look back at 2005 and find disappointment in every film that I saw. Some films I wanted to see never came around like House of D. Lots of great Indie films I would have love to have gone to see.

My top picks for movies of 2005 are as follows.

1. Munich
2. Sin City
3. Walk the Line
4. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

But 2005 was a year of Remakes, Sequals and Movies from Books. I guess it is better then 2003 that offered us The Real Cancun and From Justin to Kelly. People seem to not understand why I thought Narnia was just a 130min Piece of garbage. That new Harry Potter was a yawn. King Kong was a good film the ape captured my heart but it still seemed like 3hrs and 7 mins of Peter Jackson showing what WETA Digital could do. He should have remade the hobbit.

I have yet to see a comedy I would consider a great film. I have seen many great comedies that make great comedies. But a joke is only funny once or twice. Movies have taken this turn to crap. Though I continue to go slap down my $6.50 or $8.50-$9.00 to go see what is playing in the theater with some shred of hope I will be wrong. I will watch any movie at least once. But I find myself searching for Independant films to see what people who have real passion for telling a story over spending money have to say.

I was browsing del.icio.us looking for quicktime movies and I came across a movie trailer for the Indie film 5-25-77 and for those non movie people that was the date Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released to the world. One of my favorite films of all time though I do think Empire was better. IV was a beginning V (Empire) was the middle of the story which was directed by someone other then George and it was great on so many levels. Anyways I am getting off track. This little film just caught my eye of being the type of film I would really enjoy creating or watching.

There is one line I love
Girl: "Oh Right! Like I would waste me time on some dorky Sci-Fi Movie?"
Boy: "So you don't have your little Star Trek Parties anymore?"
Girl: "Shutup!"

It seems I have a debate like that every couple days.

Girl/Friend/Family Member: "What I can't belive you waited in line 9hrs for Star Wars!"
Me: "Didn't you go wait in line for Harry Potter at Midnight?"
Girl/Friend/Family Member: "Shutup!" or "It's totally differnt"

Everyone is a geek about something. I just dip my hand in about 236,355 things to be geeky about at any given time. So this movie 5-25-77 I feel like this movie is totally me. Couple years ago when I was just down I felt really connected with the character Miles in Sideways.

Why Microsoft Scares Me

Steve Ballmer

This guy is a bit of a crazy person. I read that he got pissed off in court one time and started throwing chairs and told Google to Fuck Off. If I saw the CEO of the company worked for did this I would be rather scared. Again why I run the Mac Platform. =)

How December Ended

I just wanted to say since I started podcasting my bandwidth has always been on the edge of the quota. This month I went over my bandwidth and it reset today. So while I am in the process of moving to a new server which will hopefully resolve this issue.

I got this in my e-mail.

Your quota is set to 20971520000 bytes ( 20000.0 MB ), and
Your site has consumed 504879808 bytes ( 481.491 MB ) beyond that quota.

Last time I checked the size of the blogger Directory it came in at 76.5MB the podcast DIR is hosted on the same server but did not figure into that.

But anyways working on the year in review blog. Think we will PDF that one. I am also working on a cool but rather geeky blog post about RSS and the people that use it. Happy New Year Everyone.

Happy New Year!
