The Current World

VIdeo You Must See

Well most of the time I try to avoid politics. I was looking for news for the next podcast and ran a search for video on del.icio.us and came across this. Now I find this to just put a smile on my face for being right on the money. But also a bit of disappointment for seeing what will be happening. I liked how it pointed out fascism and showing that you don't have to be the extreme that hitler was to be a Fascist and it comes across in a great way.

It takes a lot to get me thinking or find a film that actually moves me. This did it right on both levels. I can't really explain it. It's not that long less then 5 mins. But makes me wonder about the future. The KGB Mafia Man's paranoia of society seems justified after watching this video.

People always ask me where do I come up with this stuff. I never find it first but I tend to find things before they go to the mass. Like the christmas lights video it all started on Rocketboom then I posted a link to that and I don't take credit for being first. Rocketboom was first that I am aware of.

One another negative note. I didn't win the 257 million mega millions. I didn't even get 1 number. I guess I will have to try for the 269 million on friday.

Metrosexual Moment

Well I thought it would be a good time to talk about this considering I just had a nice shave with that new Mach Fusion 5 Blade Razor. I must say a big difference over the Mach 3 Power Razor. But when I tend to shave I like to wash with the Gillette Facial Cleansing Scrub. Then rinse the face with hot water. I am told it opens up the pores in your face and raises the hair up for an easier shave. I like the standard razor over those electric ones. So then I stick the shaving gel in hot water and then apply with hands to my face. I have found that shorter strokes with the razor offers a closer shave. I prefer not to shave in the shower because you tend to miss some spots and I always feel rushed I would prefer to take the time and do it correctly. I tend to go against the grain since it offers a close shave. Then with the grain to get the missed spots it seems to work for me.

The problem with most men's shaving cream is they tend to dry your face out. So the key thing to do is moisturize your face after you shave. May sound totally stupid but many many years down the road you will still have that smooth face. I tend to use the Gillette Complete Skin Care Facial SPF15 Moisturizer. Also never apply cologne to your face since it will dry out your skin also.

But the whole reason I am writing this post is I am in need of an answer. I feel like I should go to a meeting and say "Hello my name is Tristan and I have dry skin" but that would tend to be a foolish thing to do and serve no real purpose. I would probably be beaten to death by an army of people who really do need help with their belts and worn down shoe soles. But I digress.

I have dry skin on my hands mostly. For some reason my left hand is a bit worse then others. I bought this one product at Bath and Body Works called "Look Ma New Hands with paraffin" it had a pleasant Citrus smell and would work for a period of time but would lose the effects and come back. Overall a waste of $20. So I thought well the cheaper stuff might have something. But walking into your local grocery store as a single male to buy a bottle of Jergen's Ultra Healing you feel a bit awkward walking up to the checker buying a bottle of lotion. Because when you walk into Bath and Body works there is someone to help you to offer you the assitance you need for whatever moisture solution you require. At a grocery store I assume the checker will see me buying this bottle and think I have an alternate reason and having been a checker if I know them it could be a topic of a break room banter later in the day.

But that bottle works but you have to apply it 5 times a day it seems to get any result. I really don't have time to worry about that and don't want to be having a purse to hold lotion. Times like that I miss having a girlfriend. They never seem to have pockets but carry a bag around. Also nice for sneaking candy and beverages into movies. You wear a big coat and they know what you are doing. (chuckle)

So after all that typing my question is what lotion can you recommend that actually works for dry hands. My knowledge of this stuff is rather limited and something I could pickup with as little mockery as possible would be nice. Thanks in advanced.

Talking to Woman

I have been thinking if I ever plan to get a female co-host I have to learn how to talk to a woman. So here is basically the thought process I run through when talking to a woman.

Now I am what they call a "Nice Guy" and as the saying goes "Nice Guys Finish Last" which I totally believe so I have really been working to not be the nice guy but be the "Great Guy" because the reason Nice Guys Finish last are a few things. Nice guys are desperate, needy, insecure, high in supply but low in demand. Nice guys just want a girl to like them while a great guy likes himself and wants to live his life and the woman should want to join you gentelman. Because if you always want to be part of her life she will get bored and you will be coming off as desperate and this will trickle down in her social network.

Another thing that I have needed to work on is something that the KGB Mafia Man's wife pointed out to me. I met up with them at a coffee shop and I just sat down and started talking to the KGB Mafia Man and she asked me if I liked her or not. She is a great gal but I made no effort to make any contact of any kind with her. Which she pointed out it sends the signal I want nothing to do with her. But in reality I was thinking something else this is the communication problem I had. Normally I think eye contact with a woman comes off as me being "creepy" but that is the way I think and not the way a common woman thinks. They want us to listen. If we guys talk to much woman tend to get bored. If you have seen 40 year old Virgin where he goes into the book shop and just asks the woman questions the woman thinks you really want to hear what she is saying. Which you should but this is a problem I have. I talk to damn much mostly from being nervous but most woman don't really give a shit about why the latest iPod is so cool. What cell phone I plan to buy or what was on Last Weeks episode of Top Gear. I get this newsletter and it suggested that to talk to a woman is go learn something about her world by picking up a copy of Cosmo or whatever girl magazine is at the shelf because you will learn something. It's a pretty great resource actually you can grab a copy of these magazines and read what woman are interested in so you will have something to talk about when you approach a woman you will have something to say and she will have a thought about it. Great way to break the ice takes less then 1min.

Now just changing these few things isn't something hard to do. But as this thing I have been really into it says to Be a man but think like a woman. Because we are two totally different creatures as I said before look at magazines guys magazines are all about physical thngs. Cars, Bikini Babes, Computers, Cell Phones, etc. But a typical woman's magazines have an appeal to Women they talk about romance, relationships, grooming tips, etc. If you have a bit of knowledge about such a matter great way to get a conversation started.

I would love to do a Podcast with a female cohost getting their prespective on how they approach relationships and what they think of guys. We are both different, We both think each other is confusing. I think by taking a few minutes a day and just thinking about how the opposite sex would think instead of brushing it off as stupid. The communication gates would open up and life would be so much better.

Just a Thought.

Google Search Results Time

Well I was checking the server log and found some unique ways to get to my site.

On Google.Co.Uk
Size 16 Feet Shoes
That was a pretty interesting search. Not ranked #1 but in the top 10 =).

On Yahoo I got this one.
Imax Resolution
I wrote an e-mail to my engineer friend at IMAX trying to compare the resolution of film compared to IMAX and have been linked to from many other blogs interested in this topic.

The most common words that people use to find my site are.
"body" "napolean" "dynamite" "tristan" "blog" "tag" "codename" "amy" "pipo"

70% of the searches that hit my site are from Google. Yahoo is at 19%. The Most common browser is IE6 at 70.26% of my visitors with Firefox at 25.46%. Windows XP is the most common OS 72.65% of my hits. 9.9% with Windows 2000 and 9.55% with Macintosh. (I love my Mac Users). I have had 4 users on WebTV hit my site since I created it. Looks like 1024x768 is the most common resolution. I remember reading a book saying monitors will never get that high and it's best to design all sites for 640x480 and high end at 800x600. I run 1280x854 on my powerbook. And my external monitor is 1920x1200. =)

Just some cool stuff for ya.

Works in Progress

Well I was doing a little laptop cleaning and I made a note a long time ago about Me and Mike started on a project to try and decode a female. Well as you can tell from the Podcasts and Blog reading we had no success and probably never will.

But I never released the sheet we had worked on. So I thought I would release the work in progress that never got finished and never will be finished. Unless I get a book deal or something. ;-) (Yeah right)

Decoding Females

Another work in progress that I have been taking the liberty to write is a bit of a long one. I sent out an early early draft to a freind and the KGB Mafia Man. Here is his e-mail I got back.

"THIS IS GOOOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT MORE !!!!!!! GIVE ME ALLL!!!!!! AND THEN POST IT> THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME FOR A FRIEND. IT MEANS A LOT FOR ME. SERGE.

P.S. Just don't loose momentum - keep beign angry, it makes you awesome. I can finally hear your heart screeming and this is what people around you need to know. Go for it Kid!"

Basically this comes from the other day when I was just beyond pissed at the world. So I have been working on it. Now this thing I am working on is like "Tristan Unplugged" and it's basically myself in this writing. The draft the two people have seen was about 3 pages. Right now it's around 9 pages. If you think you know me well you may be totally off or just right on the money. But it will be done when it's done.

Writing this has really helped me get to know myself so I can only imagine how it will be taken. I am not holding back everything that I have wanted to blog about and haven't will be in this work. It's a rather large under taking if anyone has any editing skills shoot me an e-mail would love the help.

P.S. Note to Junniper: I should just mail you a CD ;-)

Useful Site!

I heard this site on the Daily Source Code a Podcast hosted by one of idols I guess Adam Curry I get a lot of IM's saying "I don't have an iPod how do I listen?" or "What is a podcast?"

I haven't found any real clear way to say this. My technical mind wants to explain every little detail of it causing most people's brains to jump out of their slide into the CD-ROM tray crawl through the internet jump out my USB port and beat my head into the keyboard saying "Shut the Hell Up Tristan I understood Internet and I hardly understand that at all"

So for the people out there I will now present.

NoiPodRequired.com
It can answer all your podcasting questions in one simple page better then I could ever describe without sending you a link to Podcasting - Wikipedia Entry Which breaks down how RSS 2.0 was created and so forth.

Which I know most of you don't really care about. Just like you could care less about my complaint against MySpace for not having RSS for the blogs that I can throw into Fireant or Live Bookmarks or RSS Feed's in Safari.

GMail + Google Talk = Crazy del.icio.us

Well not really but checking out the Google blog as a good SGBB I found this old article that I found rather funny.

Chat + Email = Crazy Delicious

If you are not up with the Google Talk World and a gMail user well you are so behind on the times. They have been testing a new feature where you can actually use Google Talk within gMail. It's limited in who is testing this. I have been a gMail user since back in the day when you could actually sell a gMail invite for $20+ (Good Times).

I tend to rely on gMail and 30Boxes.com for my e-mail and calendar software. Skype is my main IM client with Google Talk and then AIM. Then we have the people on MSN Messanger and Yahoo. I can't say I am a fan of either Yahoo or MSN but people like them. I love Skype I can just hop on have a voice chat with someone and be on my way. Call someone.

Which reminds me for those who don't like to dial in the cell phone to call the voicemail you can leave me a Skype Voicemail my account is on the right hand side there in blue. But my account name is Tristan.Mac so if you would like to leave a voicemail for the Podcast feel free.

But I get off topic so easily. I should really limit my computer knowledge to something small. I just thought this was clever that an offical company blog had this as a closing remark.

"Now that it's launching, we're going to quit working Sundays. Maybe even throw back a few Mr. Pibbs and celebrate with Red Vines."

Making Reference to SNL Lazy Sunday also for your downloading pleasure in the iTunes Music Store for your Video iPod.

The Podcast feed has both versions of the podcast. If you have Quicktime 7 you can play the AAC version with the enhanced features. I set out on this podcast wanting to really get a feel for Garageband 3. Try the auto-ducking feature and play with some of the loops. The next Podcast will be the feedback cast. So send in your feedback. I would like if people would call in. I have tons of e-mail, IM's and Blogger comments. Are we afraid to talk to a machine on the phone? I know you guys don't want to hear me reading comments for 30-50mins. Get some flavor on here. But if you want to be shy and hide under a cave that's your deal. (206) 973-7886 Enjoy!

Fixed Podcast! MP3 Later!

Fixed Updated Feedburner Test with TrisatPipo.com Apache .HtAccess Corrections
Okay the problem is Fixed iTunes should be updating with the updated feeds. I forgot how complicated doing things from Windows to a Red Hat Apache server were. Had to download PuTtY and then use vi to edit the .htaccess file because Windows will not edit a .htaccess file locally because the filename extension didn't work. Notepad wouldn't open the deal and it was just a pain. So it is all good and working now.

Enjoy

Podcast Issues

I got an e-mail saying the iTunes hasn't updated. Well I found that it was an issue with Apache and the *.m4a format. So I sent in a support ticket and you should expect your iTunes to be updates as soon as the fix is implemented.

Alright Peace Out!

New Podcast Today

Due to my time limits the iTunes Subscribers will get it today. It's my first "iTunes Enhanced Podcast" Saves me from some work. So if you have iTunes you will get some cool new features. The MP3 Version will be along tomorrow when I have time to re-encode the file. A lot of sneak previews in this one and my thoughts on Valentines and Singles Awareness Day!

Both versions will be in the Podcast Feed for your downloading pleasure. I have had a few requests for a WMA version of the show. Well I have no way to encode such a file and it wouldn't have any use for me. If someone wants to make a WMA version let me know more then happy to hook you up with a WAV version of the show. But anyways I am off to work and school.

The Chatters Blog

Well I have had an issue with uploading photos to the blog so I made a blog dedicated to images I want to post on the blog. So here we go.

Yesterday I was on Skype and Sitting in Skype Me Mode and I got a message from the person with the profile you see below.

So it was in Chinese so being a Mac Guy running OS X Tiger I have Dashboard and it has a Translator. So I took what was in this person's Description and it translated to the image you see below.

So I couldn't understand her voice but this translation made it very clear to what she wanted. So I blocked her and life will be happy until she finds some other poor american sap for her to try and suck the life out of.

Another chat I had with someone new is with someone I have been a reader of for a while and it was nice to finally talk to someone in real time. It was only recently that e-mail was an option. So I thought that went awesome.

I finished the intro for the next podcast and should be recording this weekend. So expect that Sunday or Monday. Homework is all done and life is good.

I must say that people on the most part have been crazy. Driving on the road yesterday was a nightmare people on the tail. Some of these people if they were any closer they would be up my ass and I could feel their engine running in the back of my throat. I have always thought you should have to pass an IQ test to drive.

It looks like the cry for a Date in June has had nil responses. Oh well time is still on my side. Anyways Happy Hunting Everyone. But if you are a new reader I am always up for a chat.

Peace Out. Your Loyal Blogger.

Post #594 - The Podcast and The Test

Well here is some of the nitty gritty have to know info on the down low. Well me and Mike have been working on some pretty damn cool stuff. Which I will put a preview of one such creation in the next podcast. The next podcast I would like to do is the Feedback Podcast where I take all the feedback I have been collecting over the past few podcasts and respond to it.

So if you have anything you would like to say hit up the e-mail, voicemail, or IM and I will be sure to get it into the notes and respond to it. If you do the voicemail that would be awesome love audio comments. If you think I suck feel free to tell me I would love to hear something negative other then some issues with audio quality I am well aware of.

On a Podcast sidenote I will admit this in public that the Elite Stranger Interview I have their answers but I can't find the audio with the questions. So I have half an interview and I really don't want to flub the rest. So if Craig is reading this feel free to come kick my ass and we will go have a beer and laugh about how I fucked up.

So anyways back to the feedback cast. I would have recorded this as a podcast on my drive home but I left the Mic on my desk. But on another side note with the release of Episode II it has caused me to be at 46% of my bandwidth that I am allowed per month and it's only the 6th. I love this! Thank You for making this such a cool thing to do.

On another note I have been looking into a new blogging solution because of some of the limits with the Blogger Engine and API it limits me in some of the things I have been wanting to do. Mainly a few things I would like to have are tagging posts with a catergory. So lets say if you just want to read about how I never go on dates or what girls I have dated and how they are crazy there will be a catergory called Romance under a Catergory of Personal. Something like that ;-) I have been in contact with the Blogger people to see what they can do and we will see where that goes.

I have also signed up with the new site 30Boxes.com you can run a search for my e-mail tristan@tristanpipo.com and add me as a buddy. It has lots of cool stuff and basically is an online calendar with a social website aka MySpace attached. Love it. I Invited of few of the Blogger Friends.

So anyways Feedback! I want your Feedback! I want to know what you think or any questions you may have that you have thought about from listening to the Podcasts or reading the blog if you wish. I want to hear the Negative, I want to Hear the positive. Call it in (206) 973-7886 and I promise you will be on the show. (Time Permitting Of Course. I don't want to run 1hr 6mins again unless necessary) All e-mails will be read or responded to. If you have a question for one of my Co-Hosts feel free to call in and e-mail and I will get them on the show.

There has been one piece of feedback I have been getting more then the others. Which I will address on the podcast. And we are going to be trying something new with another project I am involved with I will get on a future show. I have let a few test subjects in on this. They have found it to be rather funny. I have been told "It takes you to a new level. It will be hard to match" Well I don't think it is all that but it is pretty damn good if I may say so myself.

Again if you think you have what it takes to be a cohost on a future show. Shoot me an e-mail! Tristan@TristanPipo.com

Also Make someone smile today. You never know where it may go. I am better at making people laugh. But smiles are always attached to that. It's like a double freaking Whammy of Joy!

Hmm something Personal... What to write.... Okay here is a bit of news. I won some tickets to the Seattle Symphony for June they are really good seats and I have two tickets. If a local lady is looking to get dressed up for a night at the Symphony I got a free ticket if you want to go. It's an Alfred Hitchcock deal where they will be playing all the music from all of his movies with a screen behind them I am told. Should be pretty damn cool if you are into movie scores and classical music. Maybe I should have a contest for this. Ahh that's probably a bit much. I am sure the KGB Mafia Man will come on here with a comment offering his Sage Advice. He's one of the few people that has no problem calling me a dumb ass to my face. He has my total respect for that.

Happy Blogging and Hunting. This is the Tristan of the Pipolo Saying Have a Good One. And Smoke me a Kipper I will be Back for Breakfast.

(After doing all that I have noticed my mind was on this odd voyage of random thought. Have to love a blog.)

Seahawks Lost. Power On

Well finally the power has come back on. Then the Seahawks Lost. While we mourn and I get a hot shower. Serious blogging will happen next.
